The Downtown 3rd Farmers Market Las Vegas opened March 9, 2012 in what was formerly a bus terminal. The building sat empty and unused for two years and was then donated by Mayor Carolyn Goodman to the Farmers Market which is quickly gaining popularity.
Downtown 3rd Farmers Market
What:
There is a delightful assortment of wares being sold. Fresh organic produce including many exotic fruits and vegetables. You can purchase raw honey, beeswax or pollen (to cure allergies). Discuss all the valuable properties and benefits of herbal teas with the woman that grows and mixes them. Try a taste of gluten free breads from Beau Monde Bakery (can’t believe there’s no flour!). Shop for balsamic vinegars, rich blends of coffee, home made soaps and body scrubs, dried fruits and a stuffed cookie wouldn’t hurt. There’s so many interesting products and people and it’s growing every week.
Where:
The market is located off of US-95 at Casino Canter Drive and 3rd Street, next to the Mob Museum (which you should definitely visit as well). There’s plenty of parking, although some what awkward to get to.
When:
This wonderful little market is only open on Fridays from 9am – 2pm. We really hope that it will become a weekend event of 2-3 days rather than just Friday. Not everyone can make it on a Friday. Time will tell.
Why:
Because they’ve got a collection of foods and produce that are both delicious and interesting. It’s like the First Friday of foods. You get to meet and talk with the people who raised, baked or created the goods there just as you get to meet and speak with the artists on First Friday. It’s the person to person experience that makes it worth the trip and it’s fun.
