In the mood for seafood? Drop anchor in the desert at the Chart House Las Vegas.
Chart House – Golden Nugget
A night out Downtown found myself and some friends and family looking for a place to catch a bite. None of us had ever been to Chart House so we decided to take a chance. That’s one gamble that paid off that night.
The Chart House has many locations, generally near the ocean. Since there isn’t an ocean anywhere close by they decided to bring the ocean to Las Vegas with a 75,000 gallon Tropical Fish Aquarium that is the centerpiece of the restaurant. There’s lots of sky blue everywhere you look for that must be close to the ocean vibe. The only thing missing is a seagull. The dining area is open and spacious. I’d call the atmosphere upscale casual. The Chart House has a very attractive bar that sits facing the aquarium with a terrific selection of specialty cocktails.
Let’s Eat!
For our first course we ordered the East Meets West Tuna (zesty tuna tartare drizzled with wasabi cream paired with seared peppered tuna & avocado, with kim chee slaw & plantain chips) Roasted Beet Salad (red & yellow beets with arugula, prosciutto crisps, blue cheese crumbles, candied pecans, pickled red onions & mandarin oranges in a lemon & truffle vinaigrette finished with a mango glaze) and Chopped Spinach Salad (with warm bacon dressing, chopped egg, bacon, radishes & mushrooms). We sampled each others starters and all agreed they were delicious.
For the main course we had Stuffed Flounder (filled with jumbo lump crab drizzled with lemon butter & served with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes), Halibut (with a beurre sauce and lump crab served with orzo mixed with a little tomato, spinach and parmesan cheese), Lobster Francese (lightly breaded lobster tail paillard, served with angel hair pasta tossed with spinach, mushrooms, asparagus & tomatoes) and Free Range Chicken (in a Marsala wine sauce, served with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes). The silverware was flying as we all swapped samples of our dishes. My sister-in-law ordered the Lobster Francese and although I would’ve preferred the Lobster Tail done with an egg wash rather than lightly breaded, she was already making plans to come back and have it again.
For dessert we shared one decadently rich and creamy slice of Macadamia Nut Dulce de Leche Cheese Cake. That’s all we could handle!
