The Ravella and Lake Las Vegas are ironically not in Vegas. They are located in near by Henderson. Lake Las Vegas is a man-made lake surrounded by beautiful homes (Celine Dion has a home here), golf courses, two hotels, small casino, a quaint village of shops, restaurants and some condos; an oasis in the desert. There are many fun events at the Lake, BBB-Q cook-offs, Hawaiian festival, free outdoor movies on the lawn, and Jazz nights to name a few. Click here for info.
Ravella Hotel & Resort
Ravella was formerly the Ritz Carlton and is a beautiful Mediteranean style property that is right on the lake. We got a great deal through LivingSocial.com (click here for info) for a one night stay at the Ravella for only $59 and we added another night for $79 which included a discount for being a local. Sweet deal. The Ravella Hotel & Resort has outstanding accommodations and have many amazing specials and packages that make it irresistable. There’s a fitness room, day spa, restaurant, room service, valet, and a small bar. Every room has a beautiful view of either the courtyard (which has a fire-pit lit at night) or Lake Las Vegas. The rooms are gorgeous. I loved it! Double doors open to the marble bathroom with double sink vanity and make-up mirror, separate deep tub for a relaxing soak, roomy stall shower and separate toilet closet with a phone in it; everything you’d expect from a $200 a night room on The Strip for a lot less.
The Little Things
I’ve found that it’s the little things, the attention to detail, that makes the difference between a good experience and a great experience. There were lots of little things at Ravella. Upon arrival there was a valet to greet us and park the car. We entered the lobby, (beautifully furnished with a fabulous view) and approached the desk where we were cheerfully greeted. Two large glass water dispensers were set up on a buffet table with plastic cups for some complimentary drinks. At first glance I thought they had the usual slices of lemon floating in them, but realized it was fresh slices of pineapple in one and honeydew melon in the other. Wow. Nice touch. We received a packet full of coupons for the Monte Lago Casino that were amazing bargains. The room had complimentary bottles of water, coffee maker and coffee or tea, a refrigerator, flat screen TV, real glass tumblers in the bathroom, free Wi-Fi and a safe for your valuables. If you bring your kids and want to ditch them for a while they have a kids club full of activities to keep them busy for hours and it’s also free. You have access to the fitness room and free newspaper daily. The pool was spacious, heated and had cabanas available. Lots of lounge chairs surrounded the pool with plenty of trees and umbrellas for a shady spot or sit in the sun. A short walk away is the “lagoon” where you can lay in the sand and take a swim in the lake. There’s a nice little food and drink set up by the pool. Sit inside or out, or have the server bring it to you at your lounge chair or cabana. Great frozen drinks and very nice food menu. Non-alcoholic frozen drinks are also available.
Dining
Medici Cafe and Terrace is the restaurant at Ravella and unfortunately we didn’t dine there so I can’t tell you about the food or service. We are already looking forward to going back and will dine at Midici next time.We used the coupons we received at check-in for Harry’s inside the Monte Lago Casino. What a pleasant surprise. Harry’s is a tiny cafe with a small bar and terrific food and weekly specials you can’t pass up. Get the details here. We also dined in the Monte Lago Village at Sunset & Vines, just a short walk away. They had a $21.95 per person 3 course Prix Fix menu that Sunday, an incredible deal for such delicious food.
