Best Las Vegas Nevada Hotels for a Family Reunion

There’s a lot more involved to choosing a Las Vegas Nevada hotel for a family reunion than you might think. It’s not just about picking a place that can accommodate a moderate to large number of guests. It’s about choosing a hotel where you can actually do things together. That can be a real challenge in a hotel casino environment. No worries, we’ve got solutions.

Where?

The Red Rock Hotel Casino & Resort

is our top of the line choice for the best place to stay in Las Vegas for a family reunion. The Red Rock is a local hotel/casino located about 25 minutes west of the Strip.

Why?

Amenities and Location

are key to having a good time and making the most of a family reunion. You’ll need a place that can provide several dining options on site and close by, and things to do to that suit family members from young children to seniors. The Red Rock meets all those needs and is a very beautiful property.

What?

 Activities for  Groups

include BINGO, bowling, movies and a gorgeous pool area on site. That’s a lot of ways to keep the family playing together. Plus they have a Kids Quest play area reasonably priced for children ages 6 – 12 see website for details. Shot records are required) that will keep the kids busy and happy for hours while the grown-ups play a session of BINGO. Send the older kids to the movies, or do that as a group as well. The bowling center is great for large groups old or young and has lots of late night specials that make it really affordable.

Dining

We recommend dining at the buffet as a large group. Don’t insist on one table, but rather a section of tables that will be all in one general area, and give plenty of notice to try to make that happen. The Red Rock has many dining choices on premises but depending on how large the group it may be tough to all dine together. A local restaurant may be a better bet. Try Firefly’s Tappas Kitchen & Bar for great food and a terrific Happy Hour.

Race & Sports Book

is another way you can get the over 21 members of the family together and the Sports Book at the Red Rock is first-rate and often has really cheap hot dog and beer specials. Unlike playing the slots, which is an individual activity and not very social even if you are next to each other, the sports book can be something you participate in as a group. Depending on when you visit,  you might pick a baseball, basketball or football game and break the family up into groups betting on opposing teams and then watch the game on the big screens and cheer for your pick. You could even get the kids in on it by letting them know what team you chose and let them watch the game in the hotel room (only if they are old enough to be left alone of course).

Super Summer Theater

at Spring Mt. Ranch is a short ride away and a well-kept secret by locals. It’s an outdoor theater that performs live musicals from May – September and the price of admission is only $8.00!!! At Super Summer Theater you can bring a blanket to sit and watch (kids like that best) or rent a chair for only a $1.00 (best for the older ones in the group). There’s a concession stand that is super reasonable for hot dogs, treats and drinks, or pack a picnic. Read here for more details. Check their website to purchase tickets in advance. Get there early (6pm the latest for a good spot) and better yet, contact them to see if you can reserve a large area for your family.

Red Rock Canyon

is a true representation of the beauty of the desert. Hiking trails, rock climbing and horseback riding are available. For a large group the best bet is a stop at the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center and then take the scenic drive through the canyon. If you’re going to go to Super Summer Theater, make a day of it and continue on to Spring Mt. Ranch just down the road; easy.

Bonnie Springs

is just down the road from Spring Mountain Ranch. It’s an old ghost town with a Sheriff, a gun fight, a hanging and a Saloon. What more could you want? Bonnie Springs also has horseback riding and a petting zoo. The Saloon does catering and might be a good spot to all dine together.

Angel Park Golf Course

is close by and has a challenging putting course that could accommodate a large group. Contact Angel Park in advance to be sure.

It’s Got to be Cheaper!!

If the Red Rock Hotel Casino & Resort isn’t in the budget, my second choice would be the Suncoast Hotel & Casino. Not as upscale as the Red Rock, but in the same general area very nice rooms and has all the same amenities with the exception of Kids Quest. There is also Bocca Park that’s very close, has loads of shopping and many restaurants for even more choices. Down the road is Bruce Trent Park that would be ideal for a family game of kickball (good choice for a variety of ages). You can buy a ball at Target in Bocca Park. Be sure and check for various hotel packages being offered here.
