Las Vegas Pool Party Do’s & Don’ts

For anyone visiting Las Vegas who wants to hit the dayclub/pool party scene let me school you on a few important do’s and don’ts.

Do: Use Sunscreen

Wear sunscreen and put it on BEFORE you get to the pool. The sun in Las Vegas is brutal. Bring it with you to touch up again. The only thing that’ll ruin your weekend faster than a raging hangover is a sunburnt body. It’s not sexy looking like a lobster. Don’t forget to protect the lips. The last thing you want is a blistered lip. Oh, and wear sunglasses.

Do: Tan

Get yourself a good quality spray-on fake tan for all the white girls. You don’t want to make a grand entrance to the pool looking all pasty white. You don’t want to look orange either. And as for the guys, don’t show up with the farmers/golfers tan either. It’s ok to even it out with a little spray on color as well.

Do: Negotiate

The cost of entry into some dayclubs can get pretty high and once you’re in, just like the nightclubs, you can start racking up hundreds of dollars in expenses on your credit card. Cabanas, daybeds, lounges, bottle service, food, cocktails and all kinds of amenities are offered and they all cost $$$. The good news is that much of it is negotiable. (Not on special events or holiday weekends) If it’s not a particularly busy time you’ve got a good shot at talking them down on the price of cabanas, which is the biggest expense, and the price of entry. Keep an eye out for the promoters in the hotel. It’s their job to make sure the place fills up and they will frequently walk around the lounges etc in the hotel and offer free passes.

Do: Stay Where You Play

This is really a no brainer. Seriously, do you want to drag yourself across the Strip to another hotels pool party? Do a little research and read this. Then make plans for the hotel that has the dayclub that you want to go to. Some dayclubs are for guests with room keys only and some charge more for outside guests. Some dayclubs don’t charge any admission to their in house guests. There are hotels that have dayclub packages with special room pricing. Check out the Hard Rock Hotel room and pool package and the Rio room and pool package here. The M Resort has some awesome room deals too.

Don’t: Bring Drugs

You’re thinking, “Hey, it’s Sin City. I’ll bring a little weed or some EX with me.” VERY BAD IDEA! Your bags will be checked and if you get caught with anything illegal you will be arrested.

Don’t: Drink Too Much!

I’m talking alcohol. It gets hot as hell in Vegas and you can get seriously dehydrated. Drinking alcohol makes you get dehydrated even faster, so make sure you are drinking some water along with that beer or cocktail. Drinking too much booze combined with the Las Vegas heat can land you in the hospital or worse. Just use your head and have fun. In case of hangover go here for the cure.

Don’t: Drink the Pool Water!

Yep. As nasty as it sounds I’m sorry but I just got to tell you that at some dayclubs there’s a lot more going on in the pool than just swimming. So keep your face above  water.

Don’t: Stare (this is for the guys)

There are several European-style sunbathing dayclubs which means tops are optional for the ladies. So, guys get your game face on and don’t look like a goggling idiot (save that for the strip clubs). At least make sure you’ve got some dark shades on so if you can’t help yourself, at least it won’t be as obvious. Also, be careful what you wish for……..a lot of boobs don’t look so great naked.
