With all the fiestas, parties, and events going on around Las Vegas this May it’ll be tough to decide where to go. That’s Vegas!

First Friday – May 4th

If you haven’t been to this wonderfully weird, wild, artsy fartsy community event it’s time to go. Drop by Bar & Bistro for a quick bite and then make the rounds. When you’ve had your fill, buy a few rounds at any number of chic and trendy bars downtown. Don’t Tell Mama is a personal favorite and the newly opened Drink & Drag is a scream. Always exciting and you never know what to expect on First Friday in Las Vegas. Support the Las Vegas art community. Go here for all the info.

4th Annual Gimme Shelter Concert – May 5, 2012

This is a family friendly event that is a benefit concert featuring the Landsharks Band; the most famous Jimmy Buffet tribute band. Monies raised goes to Heaven Can Wait Animal Society. This is an outdoor concert at Lake Las Vegas on their floating stage. It’s just beautiful out there. Tickets are $20 at the door. Concert starts at 7pm. Get there early for a spot on the lawn. Cinco de Mayo at The Village

We told you to get to the Gimme Shelter Concert early. Might as well get there REAL early an celebrate Cinco de Mayo in The Village at Lake Las Vegas. Sonrisa Grill & Tequila Bar is sponsoring the fun with a Margarita Pong Competition, Jose Cuervo Models, Free Samples (not of the models), BBQ’s, Tacos, $5 Margarita Specials, live DJ, Folkloric Dancers, Salsa Demonstrations, Kids area with Face Painting, a Bounce House and lots more. Lei Day is back for the 15th year in Vegas at the California Hotel parking lot on Stewart and Main  May 5th & 6th. If you’ve had your fill of Mexican (impossible) try a little sweetness from the islands. Go here for details. Aloha my friends.

Yep. It’s back. The San Gennaro Feast starts Wednesday May 9 at the Rio. Food, Rides, Food, Entertainment, Food and did I say Food? Get a coupon here for a discount on admission. I can’t wait to get an Italian Sausage & Pepper Hero!

Ultimate Elvis Weekend – May 11 & 12 2012

The Fremont Experience Downtown is hosting the 3rd Annual all out shake, rattle & roll Elvis Tribute Artist Contest!! It starts on the Friday at the 3rd Street Stage from 8pm – midnight. Final competition is Saturday May 12 from 8pm – midnight and it’s FREE! Meet the contestants, have a drink, dance and have fun. Elvis is in the building!!!

Rock N Brew – Friday May 11, 2012

The Hard Rock Hotel is where you want to party on Friday, May 11th poolside from 6:30pm – 10pm. The tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door and the proceeds will benefit the UNLV Beverage Management Club. The tunes will be by AMERICAN CREAM, DJ SOUSAY AND MICHAEL URIARTE. Over 100 beer selections will be on hand for your drinking enjoyment. Sample to your hearts content. There will be some delicious BBQ provided by the Hard Rock but that is not included in the ticket price. Hmm….Beer + Pool + Music, sounds like a party to me!!

Tivoli Days – Tivoli Village May 14 – 20, 2012

It’s May and the weather is beautiful in Las Vegas, so get up and get out of the house! Tivoli Village has plenty of reasons to get your butt off the couch. There is everything from sidewalk sales to Salsa Bands; free yoga class to food trucks; farmers market to classic car show and lots more. Go here for the schedule of events.

Ladybug Ball – Saturday, May 19, 2012

For $200 you can indulge yourself with a truly amazing meal prepared by some of the best chefs in town and help a wonderful organization at the same time. That’s an easy sell. The Ladybug Ball is having it’s third annual event to raise money for the Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation at Aria Resort & Casino in City Center at the Pinyon Ballroom. There will be a Cocktail Reception, Silent & Live Auctions, Live Entertainment, Dancing and a multi-course Gourmet Dinner prepared by Chef Shawn McClain of Sage at Aria, Chef Akira Back of Yellowtail at Bellagio and Chef Megan Romano of Chocolate & Spice Bakery and Cafe.
