For those of you in the northwest part of Las Vegas who are searching for a neighborhood restaurant that has delicious, flavorful food served in a warm and cozy atmosphere, search no more. Mezzo Bistro is here.
Our Experience
I heard about Mezzo Bistro at, of all places, a garage sale. I was doing a little spring cleaning and chatting it up with the neighbors and we got on the topic of restaurants. My neighbors RAVED about Mezzo, it was close by and I’m always in the market for great food, so we went for lunch. We loved the food and atmosphere so much we went back for dinner the following week. It’s a great place for a family dinner or romantic date.
Lunch
I had a mouth-watering salad made of mesclun greens with sliced fresh pears, gorgonzola cheese and a grilled chicken breast finished with a vinaigrette dressing and balsamic reduction drizzle with strawberry garnish. Yum, yum, yummy delish!
My friend had the Chicken Parmesan. If you don’t like the chicken parmesan at an Italian restaurant, why bother trying anything else? It’s Italian cooking 101. Of course Mezzo Bistro’s version of this Italian stapel was worthy of an A+. Freshly breaded tender chicken breasts that were pounded to just the right thickness, enough homemade sauce to cover without drowning and most importantly…… plenty of melted mozzarella cheese.
My other dining companion enjoyed the Meatball Parmesan Sandwich on a crusty Italian Roll. Great meatballs, homemade “Sunday” sauce on a fresh roll with melted mozzarella cheese; simply delicious.
What’s Sunday sauce? If you grew up in an Italian neighborhood in any big city, New York, Chicago, Boston etc. you know that Sundays is pasta day and you can smell the sauce cooking on stove-tops throughout the neighborhood. It’s an Italian family tradition. (If you weren’t Italian, you were hoping you’d get an invite from your buddy for dinner.)
Dinner
We started with the Seared Blackened Salmon served over a bed of julienne squash and the Caprese. Fish makes a great appetizer.
The salmon was beautifully prepared and very tasty. The Caprese was perfect. Ripe tomatoes, moist fresh mozzarella cheese, extra virgin olive oil, fresh basil and balsamic vinegar are the ingredients for this classic Italian starter.
For entre my husband chose one of the specials. He had Veal Angelica; veal medallions breaded and sauteed, then slow cooked in a Cabernet sauce topped with provolone, prosciutto, vidalia onions, and roasted red peppers. It was a great combination of flavors; tender and delicious.I had the Chicken Piccata and loved every bite of the tender chicken breast with white wine, lemon, butter and capers.
Dessert
We couldn’t decide, so we ordered three! No worries. My gym membership is up to date. We had the Cheese Cake with fresh strawberries, Tiramisu and a Cannoli. How good were they? Five pounds heavier good and worth every calorie!
Wine
Not only does Mezzo Bistro have outstanding Italian food made with the highest quality ingredients, they also have a wine list that will perfectly complement your food selections. There are 30 wine selections by the glass and over 100 by the bottle.
