We recently stayed at the Ravella Hotel & Resort out at Lake Las Vegas for a short stay-cation that was wonderful, and did a little gambling and dining at the Monte Lago Casino. It was an all round terrific experience.

Monte Lago Casino

The Monte Lago is located in the Monte Lago Village at Lake Las Vegas. It’s a small casino in a quaint village. The Monte Lago Casino doesn’t compare to Strip Casinos when it comes to table games or venues offered, but it is just right for its location. A nice little place to make a donation and have some fun. Be sure to sign up for the Club Monte Lago Card! (You should always sign up for a players card in any casino you go to whether you gamble or not.) You want to earn points for your play and it gives you access to some of the best money-saving offers in town.

Gamble

They have plenty of poker, keno and slot machines. My favorite is “The Hangover” themed machine based on the movie. Had a little bit of luck on that one and a lot of laughs watching various clips from the movie. A Sports Book is about to open in time for plenty of football action and some World Series wagering.

Table Games

The Monte Lago Casino at Lake Las Vegas doesn’t have traditional table games. They have virtual table games. It’s pretty interesting and cost-effective for the small casino. They have the virtual set up for Black Jack, Three Card Poker and Texas Hold’em.  There are instructions on how to bet and how to play. Easy. A large screen has a pretty female dealer in a hot outfit that deals your cards. I prefer a live dealer but there are some advantages to the virtual dealer. If she deals me some crappy cards I can call her a dirty skank and not be thrown out. That’s a plus. If I never played Texas Hold’em or Black Jack and felt awkward about sitting at a live table and screwing up I can play with Ms Virtual and get a little experience with the game. I have a friend who sat at a live Black Jack table and played so bad, the other players at the table took up a collection and paid  him to leave. No chance of that happening with Ms Virtual.

Harry’s

Harry’s is a small Italian bistro at the Monte Lago with a small bar, friendly bartenders and wait staff and surprisingly fabulous food despite its humble appearance. As the saying goes, “Don’t judge the taste of the food by the fact that the menu is on a clip board.” Yeah, it really was. Harry’s is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Truth be told, we probably wouldn’t have gone to eat there if we hadn’t received coupons for it upon check-in at the Ravella Hotel & Resort. Everything was great. Go here for the complete review.
