The best Las Vegas restaurant Downtown is Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse located in the Golden Nugget on Fremont Street and ranked one of the ten best Steakhouses in the country.
Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse
Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse has the classic steakhouse feel reminiscent of restaurants in Chicago or New York.
Warm stain-glass lighting, the voices of such icons as Frank, Sammy, and Dino in the background, dark wood paneling, custom crafted iron railings, a welcoming bar and an equally warm and welcoming staff set the mood for a great dining experience.
Feed Your Carnivorous Cravings!
Sometimes you’ve just got to have steak and when that happens Vic & Anthony’s is the best place to satisfy your appetite. We started off with two of their signature dishes, Crab Cake and the Maple Glazed Quail. The crab cake was loaded with lump crab and finished with a beurre-blanc sauce and was divine. The quail was a nice change of pace; a little sweet, a little spicy, great flavor. We were tempted by the steak tartare, but decided to save that for another visit. For entrée I had the petite Filet Mignon and the hubbie had the Prime Strip (it’s a NY Strip), both were cooked to perfection and were absolutely fabulous. We ordered sides of Au Gratin Potatoes, and Steamed Asparagus. The potatoes were decadent and the asparagus was cooked perfectly. For dessert we had the Cinnamon Croissant Bread Pudding with Warm Bourbon Sauce and Dulce du Leche Ice Cream. Yum, yum, yummy delish!!
Wine
If you’re having a great steak, you need a great wine to go with it. Not only is Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse the best Las Vegas restaurant downtown, they also have one of the best wine lists in Las Vegas period. We had a bottle of ZD Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa; a perfect steak wine.
Service
The service was “Old School” fine dining minus the “snooty”. Our chairs were pulled out for us, napkins on lap, water constantly refilled, napkins folded when I went to the restroom and the table was swept of crumbs between courses. Our server Laura, was terrific. She was friendly, yet still very polished, professional, and knowledgeable.
Just One Thing…..
Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse has delicious prime steaks, great service, great wine list, and great atmosphere but…..could you make the print on the dessert list any smaller?! It was like trying to read a phone book in the dark. Give us visually challenged people a break. Ok. I’m done ranting.

Honorable Mention
It’s actually very hard to pick one restaurant as the best. There are numerous restaurants that are truly excellent. For another option try Hugo’s Cellar. It is located in the Four Queens Hotel Downtown and is a Las Vegas landmark. They have an excellent menu and are also a great fine dining destination. Another restaurant to try Downtown is the Second Street Grill located inside the Fremont Hotel. The service and the wine list can’t compare to Hugo’s or V & A, but the Second Street Grill HAS THE BEST AHI TUNA IN TOWN!!! If you want Ahi and are tired of the same old Sake or Miso Glazed Tuna that everyone in town is making, go there. They do Ahi in your choice of either grilled or blackened (get the blackened it’s my fave!!) and then serve it over two sauces. One side of the plate has a wasabi cream sauce that is light green in color and the other half is a beurre-blanc sauce that is a light golden color. Under the Ahi is a mix of julienne vegetables. The tuna is crowned with a mango salsa and fine slivers of ginger. This dish is an amazing feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Go try it.
