The Tropicana Las Vegas has seen quite a bit of changes over the last couple of years so we decided to take a look and spend a couple of nights to see what’s up.

First Impression        

The Trop made a pretty good first impression. Check-in was easy. The staff was friendly and helpful. We got our players cards (ALWAYS GET A PLAYERS CARD WHEREVER YOU STAY). They’ve got some good deals on the cards for new members. See the Tropicana website for details. The casino was very clean looking, wide open and bright. Our room was moderately priced also clean, nicely furnished and had all the basic amenities; desk and chairs, blow-dryer, iron and ironing board, coffee machine and toiletries. No signs of wear and tear, very comfortable bed and flat screen TV. Very nice overall.

The Good Stuff

 Recycled Percussion is playing in the Tropicana showroom. This is a fun show that is creative and entertaining. (see our article).

Ambhar Lounge  has friendly bartenders and has free shows and entertainment. The “ICandy Experience” is an upbeat burlesque style show that has beautiful and talented girls who dance and sing their hearts out three times a night Thurs – Saturday.

The Pool  is beautiful.

Boring Boring Boring

The reason this article is so boring is because other than the ICandy girls and Recycled Percussion, there is nothing to get excited about at the Tropicana. The reason everything looks so clean is because there are so many plain white walls. There’s too much white everywhere. It looks more like an institution than a casino. Stark, bright and boring. I don’t know who they paid to redo the decor, but they should get their money back. As far as dining goes, I’d have to say it was more of the same…….boring. The food was good (we ate at the steakhouse) but there is no atmosphere whatsoever and the choices of places to dine is very limited. I wouldn’t go so far as to say don’t stay at the Trop, but I would say there’s a lot of other options out there. One plus is that the MGM is across the street.
